Waterproof Cable Gland – Female Thread Type IP68

GNNCGD

Product Overview

Waterproof Cable Gland – Female Thread Type IP68

A female-thread cable gland engineered for equipment with male-threaded ports — thread directly onto the existing interface with no adapter, no extra components. The GNNCGD simplifies mechanical integration while delivering stable cable retention and IP68 waterproofing.

Made from halogen-free UL-certified PA66 nylon (UL94V-2) with an EPDM elastomeric seal, it is rated for static use from -40°C to 100°C and handles UV, weather, and mild chemical exposure. Customizable EPDM formulas are available for low-temperature, high-temperature, chemical-resistance, and marine applications.

Key Features

  • Direct female-to-male thread connection: Threads straight onto equipment ports — eliminates adapters and simplifies assembly
  • Halogen-free UL94V-2 + IP68: Meets North American and EU safety and environmental standards
  • Customizable EPDM seal: Cold-resistant, high-temp, acid/alkali-resistant, and anti-corrosion formulas available on request

Application Scenarios

Automation Equipment & Machine Housings

Thread directly onto male-threaded machine ports. No adapter needed — cleaner mechanical design and faster assembly on the production floor.

Control Panels & Electrical Systems

IP68 sealing protects cable entry points in factory control cabinets and distribution boards where long-term moisture protection is critical.

Outdoor & Chemical Environments

Customizable EPDM seals handle acid/alkali exposure, making the GNNCGD suitable for outdoor power systems, chemical plants, and semiconductor fab equipment.

FAQ

Q1|How does a female-thread cable gland differ from a standard one? When should I choose it?

A standard cable gland has external (male) threads and screws into the internal thread of an enclosure knock-out. The GNNCGD reverses this — it has internal (female) threads and threads directly onto a male-threaded port on the equipment itself, such as a machine housing, pipe fitting, or connector body. This eliminates the need for a separate adapter, simplifying the design and reducing assembly steps.

Q2|What does IP68 mean? How deep can GNNCGD handle?

IP68 is defined by IEC 60529 as the highest general-purpose rating for dust and water ingress protection. It denotes complete dust-tightness and the ability to withstand continuous immersion in water — typically at 1 meter depth for 30 minutes or more, as specified by the manufacturer. For the GNNCGD, IP68 ensures reliable cable sealing in rain, splashes, and short-term immersion scenarios.

Q3|The standard rating is UL94V-2 — can it be upgraded to V-0? What is the difference?

Yes. UL94V-2 is the standard flame-retardant self-extinguishing grade. UL94V-0 extinguishes faster and produces no flaming drips, making it the preferred choice for equipment with open flame risk, high safety-class power devices, medical instruments, and aerospace applications. Confirm your equipment's fire safety requirements before ordering.

Q4|What customizable EPDM seal formulas are available?

Standard EPDM already provides excellent weathering and ozone resistance. Customizable formulas include:
Cold-resistant: for cold storage and low-temperature outdoor climates
High-temperature: for furnace surrounds and engine compartments
Acid/alkali & chemical-resistant: for chemical plants and semiconductor wet-process equipment
Anti-corrosion: for marine and salt-spray environments
Contact our sales team with your application conditions to confirm the most suitable formula.

Q5|What thread standards does the GNNCGD support? How do I confirm compatibility?

The GNNCGD is available in Metric (M-series) and G/PF threads. Before ordering, identify the thread type and size on your equipment's male port (e.g., M20, G1/2). Then verify that the cable outer diameter (OD) falls within the gland's clamping range using the engineering drawing. Contact our sales team if thread identification is uncertain.
